7 Key Points to Extend the Service Life of Heat Transfer Oil Furnaces:



1. When shutting down, generally stop the hot oil pump only after the heat transfer oil temperature drops below 70°C.



2. In case of sudden power outage, immediately extinguish the fire and then operate according to the operating procedures; otherwise, the furnace tubes may be burned out, causing huge losses.     



3. Choose the heat transfer oil reasonably according to the type of boiler. Avoid using it at excessive temperatures. Never try to save money by buying substandard oil, and do not mix heat transfer oils arbitrarily, otherwise the consequences will be severe.



4. After six months of boiler operation, sample and test the heat transfer oil as instructed. If problems are found, replace it with new heat transfer oil immediately. However, note that different types of heat transfer oil must not be mixed.



5. Prevent oxidation of the heat transfer oil. Strictly avoid contact with air when the heat transfer oil is above 50°C; this can cause cracking of the oil at an alarmingly fast rate, with very serious consequences. After normal operation, commissioning personnel must close the vent valve on the auxiliary exhaust pipe. Remember this.



6. Strictly control the circulation flow rate of the heat transfer oil to no less than 1.5 m/s. If the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet is too large during use, the original design requirements are compromised, preventing the oil from maintaining its original circulation state. The boundary layer thickens, thermal resistance increases, causing the furnace wall temperature to exceed the oil film temperature, leading to carbon deposition, cracking, polymerization, coking, or even burn-through of the furnace tubes.



7. Strictly avoid arbitrary over-temperature operation, increasing air volume, or adding more fuel, which keeps the heat transfer oil in an over-temperature state. This can cause cracking and coking of the oil, and over time, major accidents may occur.
