Explosion-proof lamps should be checked against the nameplate and product manual before installation: explosion-proof type, category, class, group; enclosure protection rating; installation method and requirements for fasteners used for installation, etc. The installation of explosion-proof lamps must ensure firm fixing, the fastening bolts must not be replaced arbitrarily, and spring washers should be complete. The sealing ring for dust and water protection should be placed in its original position during installation. At the cable entry, the cable and the sealing gasket should fit tightly, the cross-section of the cable should be circular, and the surface of the sheath should not have defects such as unevenness. Unused cable entries must be sealed according to the explosion-proof type, and the compression nut should be tightened to seal the cable entry.
Precautions
The power supply of explosion-proof lamps should be automatically cut off before the lamp cover is opened. However, due to the complexity of setting up an interlocking device, it is not easy to implement, so most lamps only have a warning sign with words like "Do not open with power on" in a conspicuous place on the enclosure. Moreover, since the surface temperature of the bulb is still high after power-off, opening the lamp cover immediately still poses a risk of igniting explosive gas mixtures (mainly for flameproof structures). Therefore, attention should be paid to lamps with light sources such as incandescent lamps, high-pressure mercury lamps, and high-pressure sodium lamps, which have high surface temperatures and can be quickly opened. When replacing the bulb (tube), the flameproof joint surface of the explosion-proof lamp should be properly protected and not damaged; after cleaning, the flameproof surface should be coated with phosphating paste or 204-1 anti-rust oil, and no other paint should be applied; there should be no rust layer on the flameproof surface. If there is slight rust, after cleaning, there should be no pitting. The sealing ring for dust and water protection must be kept intact, which is very important for increased safety lamps. If the sealing ring is severely damaged, it should be replaced with a sealing ring of the same specification and material, and if necessary, the entire lamp should be replaced. During maintenance, check whether the lamp cover is intact; if there is any crack, replace it immediately.
